Activewear is the most personal clothing you own — it moves with you, sweats with you, shows up in your progress photos. So why is everyone wearing the same three brands? Designing your own custom activewear takes minutes, made-to-order means no minimums, and the design itself can cost you nothing.

The full activewear lineup

  • The muscle shirt: the men's activewear staple — your mantra or your gym's mark across the chest, cut for the pump. The piece that lives in the weight room.
  • Athletic shorts ($39.99): your art printed down the leg like $80 streetwear, on real fleece shorts. Left, right, or both legs — a placement almost nobody offers.
  • Joggers: the same leg-print treatment on tapered sweatpants — the "full fit" bottom half.
  • The training tee & long sleeve: everyday pieces, small chest mark or bold front graphic. The long sleeve even prints down the sleeve, wrist to elbow.
  • The crop: the mirror-selfie staple — bold small graphics, one strong word.
  • The pump-cover hoodie: the warm-up ritual piece. Big back-print territory — a full graphic or your crew's mark at across-the-gym distance.

Men's, women's, and matching sets

Every piece runs S–2XL, so a men's activewear set (muscle shirt + shorts + joggers) and a women's set (crop + tee + joggers) come from the same design in the same order. The same mark that goes on your shorts leg drops onto a matching hoodie chest in two clicks — a full custom fit, top and bottom, one design.

Designs that work on athletic wear

Activewear rewards restraint. A small emblem at the chest, a single word — "STRONGER", your gym's name, your year — outperforms five ideas crammed together. Tone-on-tone (black on black) is the quiet-luxury look; a gold or white mark on deep colors pops in mirror selfies. Type any of these into the free AI design studio and it comes back print-ready with the text spelled right — 5 free designs daily, no sign-up.

For coaches, gyms and run clubs

This is where custom activewear gets powerful: a coach can outfit clients in branded pieces one order at a time — every new client gets gear in their size with zero inventory. Run clubs and studios sell merch to members directly; made-to-order means the "merch table" is just a link. Outfitting the whole club at once? Add 20+ of the same item and wholesale pricing applies automatically — no sales call.

The math

A muscle-shirt-plus-shorts custom set lands around $65, made for you, in your design. Comparable name-brand sets run $90+ wearing their logo. You can pay in 4 interest-free with Shop Pay (US). Want ideas first? See what other lifters and runners are making in the community design library.

Frequently asked questions

Can I design custom men’s activewear online?

Yes — muscle shirts, athletic shorts, joggers, tees, long sleeves and hoodies, all customizable in the free builder, men’s and women’s, S–2XL. Upload art or design it with AI, no minimums.

Is there a minimum order for custom activewear?

No — one piece is a real order, printed when you order it. Athletic shorts are $39.99, and 20+ of the same item unlocks automatic bulk pricing in the cart.

Can I make a matching activewear set?

Yes — the same design goes on shorts or joggers (printed down the leg) and a matching muscle shirt, tee, or hoodie in two clicks, so your full fit matches top and bottom.

Can AI design my gym clothes for me?

Yes — type your idea (a gym name, a mantra, a mark) into the free AI design studio and get print-ready art in seconds. 5 free designs a day, no sign-up.

Is cotton or polyester better for gym shirts?

It depends on the workout. Polyester wicks and dries fast, which wins for high-sweat cardio, while heavyweight cotton breathes well, feels substantial, and holds its shape for lifting sessions, warm-ups, and gym-to-street wear. Serious lifters often prefer a structured cotton tee or a cotton-poly fleece as a pump cover precisely because of the boxy drape and warmth, so match the fabric to how you actually train.

What is a pump cover, and why do lifters wear one?

A pump cover is the oversized hoodie or baggy tee a lifter wears over their fitted gym outfit at the start of a session. It keeps muscles warm during warm-up sets, adds a layer of comfort in a crowded gym, and then comes off mid-workout once the pump hits, which is half the fun. An 8 oz fleece hoodie with your own design on it makes a pump cover that doubles as everyday streetwear.

Can I make shirts for my whole run club or lifting crew?

Yes, and you do not need to commit to a big order to start. One prototype shirt is a real order, so you can check the design in person before the group buys in, and once 20 or more of the same piece go in the cart, bulk pricing applies automatically. Everyone can also grab their own size and garment, so the crew matches on design without matching on fit.

Will a printed design survive sweat and constant washing?

DTG prints are built for repeated washing when cared for correctly: machine wash cold inside-out, then tumble dry low or hang dry. Sweat itself does not degrade a cured print, so gym use is fine, and washing inside-out protects the graphic from abrasion against other clothes. Treated that way, the print holds up wash after wash instead of cracking early.

Should gym clothes fit tight or oversized?

Both have a job. Fitted pieces let you check form in the mirror and stay out of the way on equipment, while oversized fits work as pump covers, warm-up layers, and rest-day wear. DreamToMerch garments run true to size with a classic unisex cut, so order your normal size for a standard fit or go up a size for that boxy pump-cover silhouette.

What should I put on custom gym merch besides a logo?

The designs that get worn are personal: a training motto, your crew's inside joke, a milestone like a marathon date or a PR number, or original artwork that fits your gym's identity. Text prints exactly as you type it in the design studio, so PR numbers, dates, and club names come out precise. Keep lettering bold and high-contrast so it reads across the gym floor.
