Custom Hoodies for HVAC Companies: Logo, Back Print, Flag

Custom hoodies for HVAC companies get worn harder than almost any other company apparel. Techs pull them on for a 6 a.m. no-heat call, wear them into crawl spaces and attics, and stand next to a condenser on a windy roof in them. The layout heating and cooling companies ask us for most is simple: the company logo on the chest, a full print across the back, and an American flag on the sleeve. Here is how to set that up so it looks right on a tech and holds up through the season. See the options here: HVAC technician uniforms, no minimum.

A note on safety-rated gear: DreamToMerch garments are standard apparel blanks. They are not flame-resistant or arc-rated, and should not be substituted for FR clothing where a job or regulation requires it.

The HVAC hoodie layout that works

Three placements cover everything an HVAC company hoodie needs to say.

  • Left chest logo, about 3.5 to 4 inches wide. A hoodie is thicker and bulkier than a polo, so the chest logo can run a little larger than the 3 to 3.5 inches you would use on a shirt. Push it slightly toward the outside of the chest so the hood strings do not hang across it.
  • Full back print, 10 to 12 inches wide. This is the billboard. Company name, the service line (Heating and Cooling, Plumbing and HVAC, whatever you actually do) and the phone number or website. The back is what the homeowner, the neighbor and the general contractor see while your tech is bent over a furnace.
  • Flag on the sleeve, about 2 to 3.5 inches wide. Veteran-owned and family-owned shops especially like this detail. It reads as pride in the work without taking any space from the logo.

Which way the flag faces on an HVAC hoodie sleeve

If the flag goes on the right sleeve, use the reversed version, with the stars at the front edge. That is the same rule the military follows on uniforms: the stars lead, as if the flag is flying forward while the wearer moves. On the left sleeve the standard flag already has the stars toward the front, so it needs no change. People notice when the flag looks backward, so we check this on every proof and show the sleeve from the side before anything is made.

Gold and white lettering on a navy hoodie is a classic for this layout. It reads from across a street, matches most flag artwork, and looks sharp on a crew standing together.

Print or embroidery on HVAC company hoodies

On our made-to-order hoodies, every placement on one garment uses the same decoration method. A 12-inch back print and a sleeve flag are print work, so a hoodie with all three placements is printed front, back and sleeve. That is the right call for this layout. Modern hoodie prints bond into the fabric, handle full color, and a back logo that big would be heavy and stiff in thread.

If the stitched look matters more to you than the back billboard, the classic option is an embroidered chest logo on its own. Plenty of shops run both: an embroidered hoodie for the office and sales staff, and a printed back-and-sleeve hoodie for the techs in the field. Our guide on embroidery vs print on work gear walks through which method fits which garment.

Colors that survive HVAC work

Navy, charcoal and black hide the grime that comes with the job: attic insulation, furnace dust, condensate line muck. Heather grey looks good on day one and shows every smudge by Friday. If your trucks and logo use a strong brand color, put that color in the lettering and keep the hoodie itself dark.

Keep the logo high contrast against the fabric. A navy logo on a black hoodie disappears from ten feet away. White, gold, light grey or a bright brand color on a dark hoodie stays readable.

Heavyweight or midweight

For winter service calls, rooftop units and techs who spend half the day outside, a heavyweight hoodie earns its price. For techs who layer under a jacket or spend a lot of time in hot attics and mechanical rooms, a midweight hoodie is easier to work in. Standard custom hoodies start from $31, and heavier premium blanks cost more. If you want the heaviest feel, see custom Champion hoodies and heavyweights.

Order one HVAC hoodie sample first

Before you order for the whole crew, order one hoodie with the final chest logo, back print and flag, in the final color. Here is the order of operations we use:

  1. Send the clearest logo file you have. A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is best, a large PNG works.
  2. Approve a digital proof that shows the front, the back and a side view of the sleeve, with measurements.
  3. Order one hoodie in the size your most common tech wears.
  4. Have a tech wear it on real calls for a week and wash it a few times.
  5. Make any small change, like moving the back print up an inch, then order the crew.

The full walkthrough is in how to order one sample before buying for your whole crew.

Sizing an HVAC crew

Ask each tech for the hoodie size they actually buy for themselves, and order exactly that. Do not guess from a chart. Techs who wear the hoodie over a work shirt or under a coat often want one size up. Because every hoodie is made to order, a crew of six can be six different sizes at no extra cost, and sizes 2XL and up usually cost a few dollars more.

How many hoodies per tech

Two per tech covers a work week with one in the wash. Techs who run on-call weekends through the winter may want three. Start with two and add more as the season shows you who goes through them fastest.

New hires and reorders

Save the final design once the sample is approved. When you hire a new tech in January, you order one hoodie in their size from the same design, and it matches the crew exactly: same logo size, same back print, same flag. There is no minimum on reorders.

More for HVAC and trade shops

Want a lighter shirt for summer calls? See custom HVAC shirts with your own joke and work shirts for hot weather. Adding names to each piece is covered in embroidered names on work shirts, and embroidered crew gear is in embroidered work shirts.

Is there really no minimum?

None. One piece is a real order at normal pricing, with no small-order surcharge and no setup or digitizing fee. Every piece is made to order and ships in about 5 to 9 business days, and that window is the same for one piece or a few hundred. On eligible garments, volume pricing applies automatically once you order enough of the same item, usually starting around 25 pieces.

Frequently asked questions

What layout do HVAC companies use on work hoodies?

A logo on the left chest about 3.5 to 4 inches wide, a full back print 10 to 12 inches wide with the company name and phone number, and often an American flag on the sleeve.

Which way should the flag face on the right sleeve?

Use the reversed flag on the right sleeve so the stars sit at the front edge. On the left sleeve the standard flag already has the stars toward the front.

Can I get an embroidered chest logo and a printed back on the same hoodie?

On our made-to-order hoodies each garment uses one method, so a hoodie with a large back print and a sleeve flag is printed in every spot. For a stitched look, choose an embroidered chest logo on its own.

What color hoodie works best for HVAC techs?

Navy, charcoal and black hide insulation dust and grime best. Use white, gold or a bright brand color for the logo so it stays readable.

Are these hoodies flame resistant?

No. They are standard apparel blanks and should not replace FR or arc-rated clothing where a job or regulation requires it.

Can I order one hoodie as a sample?

Yes. One hoodie is a normal order. Approve the proof, order one, have a tech wear it for a week, then order the crew.

Pay-in-4 may be available for eligible US orders at checkout.
