Custom Hoodies for Construction Companies and Crews

Custom hoodies for construction companies have a tougher job than most company apparel. They get pulled on at 6 a.m. on a frozen site, worn under a safety vest all day, covered in dust and mud, and thrown in the wash every night. The crews that keep wearing them have hoodies that are set up for the work: a logo you can see under a vest, a color that hides the site, and a fit that layers. Here is how to set up custom hoodies for construction companies so they hold up and still carry your name. See the options here: company hoodies with your logo, no minimum.

A note on safety gear: DreamToMerch garments are standard apparel blanks. They are not certified high-visibility, flame-resistant or arc-rated, and they do not replace that gear where a site, a job or a regulation requires it.

Custom hoodies for construction companies: the layout under a safety vest

On many sites, a high-visibility vest goes over everything. It covers most of the back and part of the chest, which is where most companies put their logo. Plan for it:

  • Left chest logo, about 3.5 to 4 inches wide. It sits in the gap where most vests open at the front. Push it slightly toward the shoulder so the hood strings do not hang across it.
  • Company name on a sleeve. Sleeves stay visible with a vest on. A name running down the sleeve tells everyone on site whose crew it is.
  • Full back print, 10 to 12 inches wide. The vest covers it on site, and that is fine. The back print works at lunch, at the supply house, at the gas station and in the truck. Put the company name, the trade and the phone number or website there.

Colors for construction company hoodies

Navy, charcoal, black and dark brown hide the dust, mud and concrete that come with the job. Heather grey looks clean on Monday and shows everything by Wednesday. Put your brand color in the logo, and keep it light or bright against a dark hoodie so it reads from across a site.

A bright orange or yellow hoodie can look like safety gear without being certified as safety gear. If you choose a bright color, treat it as a brand color only, and keep vests on where they are required.

Print or embroidery on construction hoodies

On our made-to-order hoodies, every placement on one garment uses the same decoration method. A big back print and a sleeve name are print work, so a hoodie with all three placements is printed. Prints bond into the fabric, handle full color and stay flexible, which matters when a crew is climbing and lifting all day.

For a stitched look, an embroidered chest logo on its own is the classic choice. Many companies run both: embroidered hoodies for the office, estimators and project managers, and printed hoodies with a back print for the field. Our guide to embroidery vs print on work gear covers which method fits which piece.

Pullover or zip hoodie

Construction days start cold and warm up fast. A zip hoodie at $44.99 can be opened to vent and taken off without pulling it over a hard hat or a head of dust. A pullover has a larger flat back for a big print, and the classic pullover hoodie is $39.99. Standard custom hoodies start from $31. If your crew wants the heaviest feel, see custom Champion hoodies.

Sizing a construction crew

Ask each worker for the hoodie size they buy for themselves. Workers who layer a hoodie over a thermal or under a jacket often want one size up, so ask them to say so. Every hoodie is made to order, so a crew of twelve can be twelve different sizes at no extra cost, and sizes 2XL and up usually cost a few dollars more.

How many hoodies per worker

Two per worker covers a week with one in the wash. Crews working outside through the winter may want three. Start with two and add more once you see who goes through them fastest.

New hires, subs and seasonal crews

Construction crews change with the season and the job. Save the design once it is approved. When a new laborer starts, you order one hoodie in their size and it matches the rest of the crew. For a busy season, you can order a small batch for temporary workers from the same design. More on that in seasonal employee uniforms. Names on each piece are covered in embroidered names on work shirts.

Order one construction hoodie sample first

Before you order for the crew, order one hoodie with the final layout in the final color. Have a foreman wear it under a vest for a week and wash it a few times. Check that the chest logo shows in the vest opening and the sleeve name reads from a distance. Then order the crew. The step-by-step is in how to order one sample before buying for your whole crew.

More for trades and field crews

Most of the same rules apply to other trades. See custom hoodies for HVAC companies for the flag-on-the-sleeve layout, embroidered workwear for trades and field crews for paying over time, and work shirts for hot weather for summer. Embroidered crew gear is on our embroidered work shirts page.

Is there really no minimum?

None. One piece is a real order at normal pricing, with no small-order surcharge and no setup or digitizing fee. Every piece is made to order and ships in about 5 to 9 business days, and that window is the same for one piece or a few hundred. On eligible garments, volume pricing applies automatically once you order enough of the same item, usually starting around 25 pieces.

Frequently asked questions

Where should the logo go on a construction company hoodie?

Left chest about 3.5 to 4 inches wide, with the company name on a sleeve so it still shows when a safety vest covers the back. A back print carries the phone number for breaks, the truck and the supply house.

Are these hoodies high-visibility or flame resistant?

No. They are standard apparel blanks and do not replace high-visibility or flame-resistant gear where a site or job requires it.

What color hoodie works best for a construction crew?

Navy, charcoal, black and dark brown hide dust, mud and concrete. Use a light or bright logo color so it stays readable.

Pullover or zip hoodie for construction?

A zip hoodie is easier to vent and take off as the day warms up. A pullover has a larger flat back for a big print.

Can I order one hoodie for a new hire?

Yes. Save the design and order one in their size. There is no minimum on reorders.

How many hoodies should each worker get?

Two covers a work week with one in the wash. Add a third for crews working outside through the winter.
